Ashlin Larsen

Hometown: Anchorage, AK

You know the type of people who are just unassuming rockstars? Yeah, that’s Ashlin.

So in Oregon, we have this thing called a POLST – an advanced directive which everyone is supposed to have if they’re near the end of their life. Well, see, we maybe aren’t as good as we could be in the ED using these. It’s hard in the ED when momentum often carries patients through to disposition. Ashlin though, she took an hour or more out of a recent busy shift to have a conversation with a patient who was clearly in their final days of life to figure out what their goals truly were and avoid treatments that would have failed to improve the quality of their remaining life. She didn’t take the easy route - she took the route that was the best for her patient.

We can’t say we’re surprised by what Ashlin did because it’s just what she does. But we’re definitely excited she’s our current RIP City Resident!
